Week 12!!

We had the most amazing trip to Hawaii. The only thing better than the beautiful scenery were our hosts! We were lucky enough to have an open invitation to stay with my cousins who are stationed there. It was the best vacation we have ever had and we are ready to go back!

While we were gone the floors were refinished and some of the painting began. We could not be any happier with the floors! The color is much darker than we had originally and I am so glad I did it. The house already has a warmer feel to it. We used a water based finish so the floors were dry and we were able to walk on them and did not have to use any special precautions! The shiplap ceiling was painted white and we are very excited with how it turned out.

Our contractor also went to VT!

This week was the start of seeing what the house will actually look like when it is done. The cabinets were installed in the kitchen, office/pantry and media room. I might have actually squealed at a couple moments. The cabinet company delivered 2 rooms worth of boxes and the next day 3 guys came and put the cabinets up. It was amazing to see how fast they were and how well they knew exactly how everything went. They also put in the farm sink in the island. They have to come back to do the rest of the trim work for the cabinets and install the knobs and pulls on the cabinets and drawers. VTB did more trim work which is a lot more work than I realized.

Here are the cabinets!

Here are all of the boxes and you can see the white shiplap ceiling!

Jim took down the hallway chandelier to get ready for the skimmers, painters and then electricians to put up the new light fixture.

The cabinets give the house a great feel and I cannot wait for next week--we get paint and countertops!! Jim will continue to trim the house out, too. It is getting closer and closer!
